Introduction

Welcome to Rehoboth Christian College's blog for the Philippines Mission Trip 2012.

We will be travelling via KL to Manila where we will help serve the Filipino people through building projects, feeding programs, tutoring in school and helping out at the local orphanage. Our students will also experience some Filipino culture, participate in sport and visit the WW2 military base in Corregidore.

We will post each evening during the trip where possible. We look forward to reading your comments and most of all your prayers throughout this trip.

  5. We pray you all arrived safely in Manila. Hope the flight was fun and you had a chance to stretch your legs in KL. How was the transfer from Ninoy Aquino International Airport to the YJMC Ministry Centre?
We pray that tomorrow, God will lead you into areas that stretch your faith and strengthen you to serve Him with deeper commitment.

Hope you all get a good nights sleep?

    Love to you all,

    Mark & Ruth Nickels

  11. G'day from sunny WA! How are you all going with the new sights, sounds, smells and tastes of the Philippines? We sincerely hope you are beginning to feel rested from all you've been through. Well done, to be where you are now! John and Hannah, your family have been flat out doing many things, today. Ben was delighted to be given unexpected edible treats @ Bunnings, this morning, when he went with his papa to get gas. Sarah, Naomi and Esther spent all day doing folding, cleaning, etc much to their delight : / David had a friend over from School. They worked on an assignment. I was doing Thermomix all day, literally, up at the Family Centre at Roleystone's Festival. Came home about 5pm ish. It took me awhile to figure out why you both weren't coming to the tea table! Silly me!!! Know your family are lifting both of you and ALL your group up in prayer. Your younger siblings received a geography lesson this morning in the process : ) We look forward to reading all your updates. Take it easy. May God bless all of you with many serendipities as you follow God's leading being His hands and feet. with all our love, your Mum on behalf of your Dad and siblings xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

      Hope you're all well.
Hari ini kita pergi ke chruch called CCF, the sermon was really encouraging. We didn't do much today, only held a street soccer tournament and went to church.
Besok harus wake up at 5am to take a boat to Corrgedor.
It's like 11pm now, so I have to sleep. Hvnt even had a shower yet. Tapi, every thing is rolling great, so jangan worry guys!
      Thanks to Om&Tantes&etc.
God bless and please keep on praying, with love - Phoebe.

  13. Hi John and Hannah

Thankyou, A Team, for your detailed email covering flights, food and Philippino folk! It's good you are being debriefed as you go. Your leaders are looking out for you so much! What amazing, eye-opening experiences you and your teams are having already. On the home front, some are percolating along. Others, like myself, are being both over-stretched and yet resting in God's grace. Your dad spent today at School preparing for the week, David took Susie to puppy training and then stayed at home waiting for your siblings to return from Church. Jill Lowe took them to Church & Play practise. After bringing S, N, E & B home, Jill helped out with some wedding prep. Then, David's paper round was completed with Susie, E & B's help (almost 30km!), washing was brought off the line, some watering done and evening routine til bedtime. Guess what? Even some socks were washed by hand!! And, not by me!!! Tomorrow, is shaping up to be another big, warm day. Know that our home feels empty without you guys. Keep looking after your basic health: drinking lots of water, hugs all round, etc. As I type, I trust all on your teams are having a refreshing sleep. May God give you many dreams & visions! May you build on the skills you already have to stay resilient. May I get off line & let someone else have a turn : D with love Mum on behalf of your Dad & family xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

  14. G'day from home

Was the day as long as you were thinking it would be? Perth sweltered under 35 degrees, today, giving a taste of what you are experiencing. However, we are not digging for swimming pools, like you. May it be cooler during the night, for you all. How are you finding the food? What was for tea tonight? Are the drinks thirst-quenching & plentiful? You are probably at the Children's Home as I type. The drought has broken! New record!! Your dad & I played a tennis game, tonight. We haven't played since we were courting!!! The rackets were borrowed from School and the key to the Courts lives at the local video shop. It was a beautiful night. Tranquil. No breeze. We were all by ourselves. And, your dad bought me flowers, too. Your siblings wanted to come, too. But, not tonight. Another time. 4 weeks until Craig & Rebecca's Wedding. Played Chinese Whispers this morning in Family Time. Related it to Truthfulness. Could have kept it going much longer. Everyone was having much fun. How did your devotions, tonight, go? Wish we new a little Tagalog so we could tag along better. But, it looks hard. Different siblings are missing you, others are missing you not doing your share : ) Know that God is before you, beside you and behind you. You are completely covered! Keep putting your spiritual armour on every day. We are so proud of you all and the maturity you display: from how you organised yourselves in the first place to get to the Philippines and how well you are adapting to such a complete cultural change. You are with such a special, fun-loving group! Know that Christ's light shines brightly through each of you. May many life-long friendships also spring from your time together! May God keep His face shining on each member of your groups. We love you guys, heaps! Have a lovely day, tomorrow, basketball and all with love from the Nickels' family xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
